Most of the time when you have guests over or are preparing for guests to come over it is very chaotic and stressful. We are going to help alleviate some of that stress by discussing how you can make the perfect guest room.

Imagine if you were a guest staying at a friend’s house and what would make it a great experience. That is a great starting point. If you do not have enough time to complete a thorough job it might be a good idea to call a maid service that way you ensure it is done properly.

Change the Sheets

Always have fresh sheets ready and available. Either change the sheets before they arrive or leave out clean sheets on the bed for them. To make this easier and take stress and time off you plate we recommend that you keep a spare set of sheets in a nearby closet.

That way if unexpected guests are on the way you do not have to rush and stress to remove the current sheets and wash and dry them. This is a convenient tactic that is highly recommended.

Fresh Towels

Always keep two or three fresh towels handy depending on the length of stay. Remember we want to stay green, so visitors can reuse towels up to two to three times. So for a weekend trip one towel should be enough per visitor. Keep these towels fresh and ready to go similar to the sheets.

Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Soap

It is always nice to have the essentials for your guests. Sometimes the bags will be packed too tightly and there won’t be enough room. Other times your family, friends or guests might just forget. I know when I am packing the shampoo and body soap is the last thing I am remembering.

You can get basic traveler sized shampoo and soap at your local store. You can also get a big bottle and know that it will last for a long time.

Dust All Areas

When you are staying in a guest room you want it to be as clean as your own room. In order to prepare the perfect guest room it is important to dust all areas including under the bed so that your guests feel comfortable and do not suffer from allergies.

This is one of the biggest factors in preparing a guest room because a clean room is a happy room.

Clean the Bathrooms

This is almost the most important part of the guest experience. No one wants to go into the sanctuary where they get ready or get clean and have it be dirty and not up to standard.

Please, please make sure you clean the bathroom before guests come. It makes it even easier if you have a guest room with bathroom attachment so you can have your housecleaner address the area before and after the guests come ensuring it is always ready for the next guest.

Mop The Floors

Lets face it guests do not want to come stay at a place with dirty or dusty floors. You do not have to wax or polish the floors to make your guests happy, but a simple sweep/mop/vacuum will go a long way.

Have Chairs or Couches

Guests want to be able to relax and have a place to decompress. Have you ever visited in-laws and while enjoyed everything just need a place for peace and quietness.

A chair or couch in the guestroom is a unique added bonus that allows them this escape. This gives them a place to read, catch up on emails, work and indulge in their favorite hobbies.

Put a TV Near the Bed

We live in the 2000’s and people love entertainment. Whether they love sports or anything else it is important that they feel in their element. In order to feel in your element you need to be at home.

I know when I am at home I love to watch TV and sports while lying in bed. There is no better way to treat guests than to make them feel right at home.

Conclusion

We have reviewed how to give your guests the ultimate experience. All you can do is try your best to make the best experience for your guests. You might not be able to provide all the glitz and glam to them. Your guests are there for you and they won’t care if you can provide them a TV, a couch or shampoo.

The most important thing to remember is cleaning the space before they arrive. As long as you have clean bathrooms, clean floors and clean sheets then there is nothing for them to be mad about. Remember the guests are there to see you not to take a vacation.
